“Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).”

While training the new reboots Wren discovers there is something about one newbie in particular that begins to freak her out. Callum, the newbie is almost human and there is something about him that unnerves her. Something about his smile! However, his failure to do as he is ordered leaves her with no option but to eliminate him. For the first time ever it is something she can’t or won’t do. The only problem is that if she doesn’t eliminate him, she will be eliminated herself.
The Australia/New Zealand cover of this book is very eye-catching. The green eye stares out at you and draws you in wanting to know what the story holds. I loved the side of the book too with its grey and white image of an eye staring out with a creepy haunting quality to it. Must add to my TBR pile.
