Blood of my blood
By Barry Lyga
Book three in the Jasper Dent trilogy
ISBN 9780316198707

Wow – Just wow. What a trilogy and what a ride. Having loved the series there was no way I was not going to read the final book. I sat glued to the pages and the lives of Jazz, his girlfriend Connie and best friend Howie. I needed to make sure they were safe and out of Billy Dent’s way. If you have read the first two books then this is a must read. Everything comes out in the end but what a body count to get there. The creeping sensation that Jazz may end up like his father, a serial killer like no other – well I can’t tell you what happens. It really is up there in terms of quality writing and intense suspense. Blood and guts aside, the what-if’s, and who did-it’s is tops.

“Jazz has been shot and left to die in New York. His girlfriend, Connie, is in the clutches of Jazz’s monstrous father, Billy–the world’s most notorious serial killer. And his best friend, Howie, is bleeding to death on the floor of Jazz’s new home.

Somehow, these three must rise above the horrors and find a way to come together in pursuit of Billy.

But then Jazz crosses a line he’s never crossed before, and soon the entire country is wondering: “Like father, like son? Who is the true monster?”

From New York City to the small town of Lobo’s Nod, the chase is on, and this time, Jazz is the hunted, not the hunter–while Billy Dent lurks in the shadows.

And beyond Billy? Something much, much worse. Prepare to meet…the Crow King.”
I have to wonder about how an author can come up with such a gripping story and be so realistic – brilliant series!

Here is a reminder of the first two books.

killers

I posted the trailer for this book a few weeks back and having finally managed to get my hands on a copy have read it and here is my review. I was not disappointed with this book at all!
Jazz is the son of the world’s worst serial killer. He cannot escape his heritage and even though his father is locked away in prison, his town is not safe. Bodies have started piling up again and Jazz is determined to get to the bottom of it. He may however, be more involved than realises. There are so many things in this book which kept me hooked. Jazz continually has internal conversations with both himself and his father. Sometimes the “conversations” are quite brutal and you have to wonder just how cruel humans can be. The past keeps coming back in flashes that both haunt and confuse Jazz. There are moments when you think you know who is committing the murders and moments when you are as confused as Jazz. The pace is perfect and the language and tone are also just right. The author has obviously done his research and facts are thrown in from time to time about real serial killers. At times it is a little graphic for sensitive young adult readers but it is a book I highly recommend for a great thriller, murder-mystery and just a 5 out of 5 great read. I will certainly look forward to book 2 as the twist at the end leaves you hanging out for more!

Just a reminder that the book trailer can be found here on this blog.

I spied this book today drawn in by the cover and the title and began reading. Unfortunately I had to leave it at the place of work but I have put my order in to be first to read it. Fingers crossed it is released tomorrow as I really can’t wait to get stuck in. The writing hooked me in right from the first page.

“What if the world’s worst serial killer…was your dad?”
Jazz (Jasper Dent) has seen too much but with his dad finally in prison he can now live a normal life. That is until new bodies start piling up. And the finger of blame is being pointed at Jazz. In an effort to clear his name Jazz helps the police to hunt down a new serial killer. But perhaps Jazz is more like his father than he realises?
This sounds so cool.

Game (Book 2) is just about to be published so I will have to hurry up and read the first one.
