More than this
By Patrick Ness

A monster calls by Patrick Ness is one of my all time favourite books so I am eagerly waiting for his latest book. In fact I have already pre-ordered it from my local favourite bookstore and I don’t have long to wait now.

“A boy named Seth drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments, losing his life as the pounding sea claims him. But then he wakes. He is naked, thirsty, starving. But alive. How is that possible? He remembers dying, his bones breaking, his skull dashed upon the rocks. So how is he here? And where is this place?”
What a way to begin a novel, with the drowning of the main character! What an intriguing blurb.
It is said that this book is an “enthralling and provocative new novel chronicling the life — or perhaps afterlife — of a teen trapped in a crumbling, abandoned world.” Only two weeks until publication so I am eagerly waiting for the email to say my book has arrived.

I really hope you’ll love i t – I thought it was a great read. Lots of thought provoking themes and commentary on modern life. And a scene which may well get it banned in several US states (though it shouldn’t).
